WCSD is currently the seventh-largest school district in Iowa serving more than 12,500 students from Clive, Urbandale, Waukee, and West Des Moines, as well as open enrolled students from other communities outside the 55 square miles of our district boundaries.

Communications Specialist
Location : Waukee, IA 50263
Salary: $44,865 a year
Job Type: Full Time
Qualification Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or similar field of study.
- 2-4 years communication-related experience (design, writing, public relations, media, marketing, digital)
- Experience as a with sports information and video, preferred
Responsibilities:
- Use graphic design and publication software systems to create and coordinate production of district communication materials including print and electronic publications with attention to detail and accuracy. Including the production of online district publications, including social media, web pages, photos, and other items. Maintain and update the website.
- Provide/organize training for secretaries and other staff, including working cooperatively with building administrative staff to support newsletters and parent/community communications. Create timely content (writing/editing) for district websites and social media to promote and maintain a positive image of the Waukee Community School District and recognize outstanding student and staff accomplishments and programs.
- Point of contact/liaison with district department directors to assist with communications projects, including graphic design, internal/external communications, website content/updates, and digital/print media.
- Assist in managing brand implementation by coordinating the appearance of the district, department, and building-level print and electronic stationery items, signage, marketing materials, advertisements, and use of logos with attention to detail and accuracy.
